The horror! Imelda Marcos is not going to be happy to know that her prized shoe collection has now become a decadent snack for termites and mold.

The former First Lady of the Philippines is best known for acquiring a shitload of designer shoes and clothes way back when she and her husband, former dictator Ferdinand Marcos, were in charge of the country. The collection was left behind when the two were forced into exile back in 1986.
Manila's National Museum recently discovered more than 150 boxes testifying to the excess and luxury that the Marcoses indulged in before they fled to Hawaii. These included designer clothes, pieces of art, and at least 1,220 pairs of Imelda Marcos' shoes.
After languishing uncared-for in palace storage for many years, the boxes were transferred to the National Museum for safekeeping. However, the content have since deteriorated when water from a tropical storm inundated the padlocked museum hall they were being stored in.
