The British boyband pretty much stole the show during this year's MTV Video Music Awards, and we're pretty much the center of attention during the entire event.

Shortly after Rihanna performed the opening act, the cameras mostly fixated on the 5-member band. Is it any wonder why they managed to walk away with 3 awards? Besides winning best pop video for their single "What Makes You Beautiful", One Direction also won best new artist and the most share-worthy moonman (a brand new category targeting online viewers). From Mashable:
Fans voted more than 50 million times for the nominees using Twitter hashtags and got to see what was winning in real time, creating a heated competition. One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” just edged out Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend.” Others vying for the crown were Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” and Beyonce’s “Countdown.”
