Only in Russia would someone think that faking their own death would be
the perfect way to test if your girlfriend is marriage material. According to The SUN, this crazy scheme was the idea of a wealthy Russian businessman named Alexey Bykov.

The 30-year-old had been meaning to propose to his girlfriend Irina Kolokov but decided to first fake his own death in order to test her love for him before popping the question. Teaming up with a stuntman, a make-up artist, a screenwriter, and a director, a plan was hatched to stage a phony car crash. Kolokov was then told to meet him at a certain place at a certain time so she could walk in on the accident.

Kolokov was then told to meet him at a certain place at a certain time so she could walk in on the accident.
"When I arrived there were mangled cars everywhere, ambulances, smoke,
and carnage," Kolokov told Russian media. "Then when I saw Alexey
covered in blood lying in the road a paramedic told me he was dead and I
just broke down in tears."
It was only when Bykov was convinced that his girlfriend was truly in love
(and traumatized) that he decided to reveal the whole prank. He rose
from the dead and proceeded to propose to his stunned partner while
drenched in "blood." "I wanted her to realise how empty her life would be without me and how life would have no meaning without me," Bykov said. "I think it worked but I promise it's the last time."
Kolokov told the media that she
had contemplated killing him "for real this time," but decided to agree to
marry the lunatic instead. Here's hoping that their wedding doesn't involve jumping off a cliff.
