Highlighted over at Discover Magazine, this new species of cockroach known as the Lucihormetica luckae possesses bioluminescent properties that actually allows it to glow in dark.
Found in South America, the bugs are covered in bacterial microbes that glow under fluorescent light. Biologists believe it could be some sort of a mimicking device meant to stave off predators.
Hopefully nobody decides to turn these bugs into the latest pet trend. We definitely wouldn't want to trapped in a dark room with these guys crawling around.
