The US government has announced voluntary recall of four million "Bumbo"
baby seats.
Made in South Africa, the seats are designed to support young babies who
cannot sit upright on their own.

And although the seats are placed close to the ground, the Consumer Product Safety Commission stated there were at least 50 incidents in which children have been injured by falling from the seat were reported since since late 2007, with injuries ranging from bumps and bruises to skull fractures! Parents have been advised to stop using the seat until they install a free restraint belt
The seat retails for around US$35 (RM109.30) in the United States. According to the manufacturer's website, recalls have also begun in Canada, Britain and Australia. A new safety guidance is also provided over at www.recall.BumboUSA.com.
