
We've already seen how you can tell if your knife is sharp by using a sheet of paper to test the sharpness. Master Bladesmith Bob Kramer has a few other ways to make sure your blades are in good condition too. You can test it the next time you're preparing a dish with tomatoes or onions. All you need to do is pay attention to how your knife cuts through it.
The video below will show how Kramer checks to see if his knives are in good shape. He also does the good old paper trick and he uses a rolled up magazine page to put his knife to the test. But it's the onion test that puts it to real test. If your blade can slice cleanly through an onion like his then its in good shape.
