A receipt posted on Reddit yesterday with the headline "My friend's a
waiter and this is a receipt for an official lunch for 15 Olympic
Bosses. Now we see where all the money's going..." has been raising
eyebrows all over the internet, and for good reason. The bill rang up to a
grand total of £44,660 (which is about $70,000 USD)
While the Redditor who posted the bill has since deleted his account, sources tracked the receipt's £19,000 (35cl!) bottle of Hennessy to a restaurant called China Tang, located in London's ritzy Dorchester hotel.
When Gawker contacted the restaurant to see if it had hosted a 15-person Olympic luncheon, the hostess replied coyly that it "probably" had. And apparently this isn't the first time the Olympic officials have dined here so we can only imagine how much feeding them for the entire duration of the games is probably costing British taxpayers.
