A video showing two foreign nationals studying in Cyberjaya tossing a puppy inside a manhole has left Malaysian dog owners furious.

According to The Star, stills from the video were first posted on Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) Facebook page. The six-month-old puppy named Kanilla had belonged to a Jordanian student named Mostafa Silawy, who is studying at the Lim Kok Wing University.
According to a source, Mostafa had entrusted his Somalian friend Mohamad Hasan to care for his puppy while he went for a month-long holiday in June. Upon his return, he was told that Kanilla had gone missing. However, Mostafa soon found out the truth after watching a video showing Mohamad and another Somalian named Ahmad Subair Addirahman Mohamoud throwing the puppy into a manhole before leaving it there to die.
Following another friend's advice, Mostafa lodged a police report on the matter at the Cyberjaya police station to take action against the Somalians, who are believed to be students at the Malaysian Multimedia University (MMU). The duo allegedly threatened Mostafa for making the report and for putting the picture clippings of their heinous act on Facebook.

The inhumane act has drawn plenty of reactions from Facebook’s users, with many calling for the police to take immediate action against the Somalians. In response to the viral video, SPCA chairman Christine Chin had this to say:
Cruelty comes in many forms but this is particularly very shocking. I urge the authorities to take the necessary action and to make a stand that animal abuse would not be tolerated in Malaysia.
