Sometimes, Ikea lamps turn out to be better if they were hanging lamps. So Dutch videographer Bas Berkhout sold his antique chandelier and replaced it with an inexpensive hanging lamp. Which was a standing lamp to begin with. He mounted his Ikea KULLA floor lamp from the sleeping.

All he needed was to reverse the shade holder fittings and drilled a hole through the metal rod to support the lamp's weight from the ceiling. If you don't have the electrical and support structure for this, it might not be a project for you, but if you do, it does give you an option of putting a standing lamp hanging from your ceiling.
