Hand sanitizers aren't just for keeping icky germs at bay. Here's a demonstration courtesy of The Modern Survivalist blog showing how well alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used to light up a simple fire:



This tip is perfect if you're having a bit of trouble starting a campfire. Depending on the alcohol content and type, a blob of hand sanitizer gel will be able to burn for up to a minute or two. If you have no other safe fire starting aids on hand, then it's worth a try. Obviously, don't play with matches if your hands are doused in sanitizer!
