I think everyone agrees that grunting and shrieking isn't the most attractive part of tennis, whether it be the men's or women's part. Major governing bodies in Women's Tennis have agreed on a plan to eliminate all of that, according to USA Today.
The plan involves:
A noise limit will be established, and umpires will all have hand-held "grunt-o-meters" to objectively measure how loud a player is shrieking. Let's hope the meter doesn't break!
An education campaign at youth academies that will eliminate grunting for future generations at the ground level.
Too bad we've got to wait for the next generation of players for this, because it won't apply to the current generation. But at least, its safe to say we won't be hearing much grunts and shrieks in future generation players. An education campaign at youth academies that will eliminate grunting for future generations at the ground level.
