It's happened to most of us. Almost all the time too. We take the butter out too late, because we never think of doing it earlier. Too early and it would melt too fast. So why not just leave it in the fridge right? But there are ways to soften butter, and if you forgot to take it out earlier to soften it you don't have to sit around to wait for it to melt.

Just put the butter in a zipper bag, a rolling pin or other firm object, and beat it out. This will make the butter soften in no time. The tip is courtesy from the folks at America's Test Kitchen. Check out the video after the break:
