When we start to see the elements of our landscape as life-supporting, we can also see that opportunities for healing exist everywhere. Inspiration abounds around us, from a war-camp garden to a flower outside our own windows. Within a single blossom, such as this Southern Magnolia, there is an unfathomable evolutionary history of growth and adaptation. Soil, minerals, water and sunlight have shaped every ancestor in the magnolia's lineage, and the flower's color, form, chemistry and taste have all purposefully evolved to support its life cycle and that of its community.
